Overview

Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44 amino acid polypeptide analogue of endogenous growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH). Its N-terminal trans-3-hexenoic acid modification improves stability and pharmacokinetics relative to native GHRH, extending its half-life in biological environments. Unlike direct exogenous growth hormone administration, tesamorelin acts upstream at the pituitary gland, stimulating the body's own GH secretion in a physiologically pulsatile pattern.

Tesamorelin is one of the few research peptides that has progressed through full FDA Phase III clinical trials, receiving approval in 2010 under the brand name EGRIFTA for a specific medical indication. This regulatory pathway generated a substantial body of high-quality human clinical data - an unusually strong evidence base compared to most research peptides. Its primary studied mechanism involves stimulation of pituitary GH release, subsequent elevation of IGF-1, and preferential reduction of visceral adipose tissue without equivalent changes to subcutaneous fat depots.

Storage Requirements

Tesamorelin is supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) solid. This form maximises compound stability during transit and long-term storage. Correct handling is essential to preserve peptide integrity. Follow the specifications below for optimal results.

Temperature: -20°C Long-term storage. For short-term use (up to 4 weeks), 2-8°C is acceptable.

Light Sensitivity: Light-Sensitive. Store in original opaque vial. Avoid direct UV or prolonged exposure to light.

Preparation Notes

  1. Allow the sealed vial to reach room temperature before opening to minimise moisture introduction.
  2. Use bacteriostatic water (BAC water) as the reconstitution solvent. Add solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial - do not inject directly onto the lyophilised cake.
  3. Gently swirl the vial until fully dissolved. Do not vortex or shake vigorously. TB-500 is a large peptide and may take slightly longer to dissolve than smaller sequences.
  4. Once reconstituted, store at 2-8°C. Use within 28 days. Do not freeze reconstituted solution.
  5. Discard if solution appears cloudy, discoloured, or contains particulate matter after full dissolution attempt.
